Question  Please explain how to share the gospel to colleagues at office. I don’t know where to start and how to proceed.

Answer  Let’s start by understanding ourselves what the gospel is. Jesus Christ shed His innocent, Holy Blood for our sins so that by believing in Him we may have everlasting life. Thus, everyone ("all have sinned and come short of the glory of God…") needs Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior of their life so that they can be saved from the wrath of God against sinners on the final judgment day (which is fast approaching). In order to receive this salvation one must believe the above and as a result, there must be the confession of one’s sins and repentance before the Lord. This is the gospel or good news which shows a person how they can be saved from eternal damnation and enjoy eternal life with God instead.
  1. The most effective tool in witnessing for the Lord Jesus Christ is our own Christian life which is on display before the world from day to day. This life in turn, will only be effective in proportion to the obedience we give to God and the quality time we spend alone with Him on a consistent basis. We can only give what we ourselves truly have to others. If we wish to genuinely share of a joyful, peace-filled, holy life as result of being a Christian, then we must have this kind of life ourselves.
  2. Prayer is one of the most important factors in witnessing. We must ask God for His Holy Spirit to anoint the words that we speak and give us a holy bolness. Also prayer must be used to bind all of the devil’s efforts to keep the person(s) from receiving the truth.
  3. Now having said these very critical elements in a truly successful witnessing effort for our God,
    • You may start by simply giving your own testimony of what great things the Almighty Jesus has done for you. You can tell others how God is alive and is a prayer answering God.
    • You can find out what their particular problem is; whether it is depression or some sickness and share of how the Lord can help us and heal us when we seek Him.
    • To others you can find out what their interest or religion is and tell of how a person in that same field of interest or religion came to the Lord (or give some book relating to such a testimony).
    • Tell others still of how all the world is running here and there pursuing various things which never truly satisfy and the empty soul it leaves them with when they don’t have the Divine direction of God Who made them. We need a right relationship with Him in order to find true meaning in life.
    • Some people need to hear more about how many times death comes unexpectedly and how fearful it is to go into eternity unprepared. Share with them about the truth of the horror of going to Hell and losing one’s own soul in eternal torment.
    • To others still you may need to share more of just how much God loves them that He is emotionally concerned about them and wants to help them have a right relationship with Him. Stated above are various methods but the method we need to use to relate the eternal truth of the gospel to a specific individual must be given by the Holy Spirit. That is why we must seek the guidance of the Lord. Pray and God will guide you. After giving the gospel also we should continually pray that the Lord will prevent the devil from taking the Word of God away from the person’s heart and that the Holy Spirit will continue to work in their hearts so that they will be saved.
