Question  A couple weeks ago, I asked a question about how to deal with a person who is well respected in christian circles as a solid god fearing spiritual person, filled with the holy spirit, but behaves to his family as a hypocrite. I'm looking for help to deal with the situation, but I don't see an answer from you yet. Is there anyone who can help me? This is tearing apart my family.

Answer  Our apologies for the late reply. Please see the reply to your previous question. If this hypocritical person is in your family and it is causing such terrible problems there, then you ought to fast and pray in faith to our loving God and keep yourself in the love of God and God will work for your good. God is always good and faithful to the sincere seeker. He will not leave you comfortless nor without help.
Question  Hello, I like your thought for the day. I know a close person who is well known in christian circles as an awesome person, a God-fearing christian, but within his family, he isnt the same person. When I try to tell his friends about him, nobody believes me because he is such a 'good guy' on the outside. I am not able to believe in the same God and with the same community that upholds this person as one of them. My bitterness has valid reasons, because this person has, and continues to affect my family without the slightest thought of setting things right. So much for being called a 'christian'. Re: How many are there 'externally religious', with whose characters you could find no fault, but who have never had the regenerating influence of the Holy Spirit; who never were made to lie prostrate on their face before Calvary's cross; who never turned a wishful eye to yonder Savior crucified; who never put their trust in Him that was slain for the sons of men.

Answer  Dear Friend, external religiosity has no worth before God because He looks at the heart. 1 Sam 16:7b "... for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart."

A hypocrite has no good standing in the sight of God no matter how many, "Christian" people testify to his good character. A man that is not right in his house and in private is not right with God period.

If we would know how to identify a true Christian from the Word, then we would not have this confusion no matter how many in the "Christian" community approve of a man simply because of his external standing before men. see 1 Tim 3:5,John 13:35,Matt 6 on hypocrites, Eph 5, Col 3, and 1 Pet 3 on family life, 1 Tim 3:2

Furthermore, though the inability or unwillingess of others in such circles to see the truth about all this may cause frustration to you, nonetheless this should in no way affect your relationship or fellowship with God. You must not make the mistake of identifying the loving, righteous Lord with any circle that calls itself by His Name but misrepresents Him by doing the opposite of what He commands.

Bitterness must not be allowed to take root or fester in the life because the Lord remains the same loving and gracious God to all who continue to trust and abide in Him. Our confidence is that the Righteous Lord Who loves righteousness will judge the world in righteousness but will begin with judgement at His house; the believers. Ps 11:7, Acts 17:31, 1 Pet 4:17

Our duty is to distance ourselves from anyone who calls himself a brother but walks contrary to the doctrine of God; esp. when we have knowledge of his private life which is not in accordance with God's commandments. Pray for him but keep away so that his sin(s) do not cause you to stumble. 1 Cor 5:11, 2 Thess 3:6,15 The devil would like us to sin the same way others sin or else lead us into another group of sins such as bitterness, anger etc. all designed very craftily to move us away step by step from the Holy and Loving God and eventually depart from Him altogether. Let us be on guard, dear friend and hold fast to the Lord Jesus and pray in faith for repentance for the wayward and fast and pray if we can for the same.

To God be the glory who gives us the victory through the Lord Jesus Christ! Heb 3:12, 12:15. 2 Cor 2:11

Question  I wondered what you thought of T.D. Jakes (Bishop) appearing and co-counseling on the Dr. Phil show? Several things that make it unsettling for me; isn't Jakes a Oneness preacher (that is, I don't think he believes in the Trinity)? And, although we see Dr. Phil and his wife's books in the "Christian bookstores" all the secular counseling and cursing/bleeping certainly doesn't point to the holiness of Christ. We happened to hear about it and turned it on to see; sad, for I don't even watch much TV anymore, esp. the "Christian TV" and here we have this prime time afternoon show seemingly validated by "Christians". Thanks for your answer.

Answer  The Lord said, "You shall know them by their fruit" and we can know by the attitude, words and actions whether or not they are truly walking with the Christ they proclaim to serve. Serving oneself and one's own interests in order to build one's own empire all in the name of the Lord is very fashionable these days but the Lord has said that judgement will not wait much longer to fall on such folk.

Alliances with unbelievers is utterly prohibited in Scripture so we need to be discerning and reject what God rejects and cling onto what He highly esteems: brokeness, humility,self-sacrifice, love, faith etc.

We ought to judiciously use our time to listen, watch and follow only those like the Apostle Paul who said to only follow him as he followed Christ.

Question  Can you recommend a good solid Christian based website to go to that has a message board where one can interact with other believers? I have so much confidence in your site; it has seen me through so much but now I find we are without a church home presently because of situations within the church we cannot compromise with. It seems we have been so abused and used, we cannot seem to go and church hop now, looking for something that seems to be scarce. I don't want to forsake the assembling - I so miss the fellowship and esp. the conversation with other Christians who may be out here right now. God bless you for always being here for us and your careful, scriptural counsel.

Answer  Glad to hear that you have been blessed by the site. Unfortunately we don't know of any message board website at the moment. Please keep reading the Word and if you are not led to a spiritual fellowship perhaps you can pray about God using you to start one. Blessings of the Lord to you and yours!
Question  What is your opinion of men who say they are called of God to be prophets today? I am not talking about the charasmatic - "I have a word for you" type. I talking of some such as a Jewish Christian, who continues in many Jewish traditions, including keeping the Saturday Sabbath. I think of the scripture that says 'law and the prophets were until John'. This particular man (and maybe others like him) have given accurate words concerning different world events, usually disasters, as in 9-11. When you read or listen to him, he is not an ear tickler; however, what troubles me is that the Holy Spirit was given after Jesus resurrected and now lives in all believers. Does the NT teach we still will have these OT type prophets? This man says that we mistakenly separate the OT and the NT. I pray and try to remain open to the Holy Spirit's guidance, and I feel that when a prophet says he hears from the Lord more, it makes me feel that he diminishes the work of the third person of the Trinity that was made available to us through the redemptive triumph in Jesus. I know someone who is searching for truth as so many of us, and I am concerned this person may be mislead. Please give your thoughts. God bless you.

Answer  There are genuine prophets today who can get a Word from the Lord about a situation or future event. None of the supernatural gifts have ceased to be available for the diligent seekers. The gifts do not diminish the work of the Holy Spirit but rather acknowledge His Presence and Operation.(1 Cor 12:31, 14:1)There is also the evil spirit which can work in people to forecast false peace as well as disaster upon disaster such as the famous psychics and foretellers in history who did not belong to Jesus. We need to be discerning especially in these last days because many will be false and only a few true. (1 John 2:18, 4:1 Matt 24, 1 Thess 5:21)Regarding the Jewish traditions such as Sabbath keeping and things like the Jewish holidays, it is the person's choice because the NT declares that a believer has the freedom to do that. (Rom 14:5,6 Col 2:16,17) However, no one may impose upon another in these matters.
