Do You Know?

Overcoming Fear

Do you fear the future?  Do you fear for your family and yourself?  Current events in the news making you nervous? Things moving too fast?  Afraid of all the uncertainties life throws your way? Anxious about your past, present and especially your, “tomorrow?”

Fear is almost widespread and as common these days as the air we breathe. The nations of the world are very in-secure about their national security.  So what do the governments of the world do?  Pump a false sense of security into their media.  Present false images of national pride.

“Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.”

  -  Luke 21:26

The fear built up due to the current events and the world’s trend, are real indeed.  No figment of the imagination, no sign of insanity here.

The Bible predicted that fear will take over people in the last days.

Now do you know where you can get deliverance from life-crippling fear?  Real deliverance and genuine help? Not just a pep talk. Not just a useless and temporary escape from fear via a trip to the movies, the beach, engaging in music, the dance, gambling, outdoor activities, good food, travel, “thriving” business deals, stocks, sports, drugs or sex or a Broadway play etc, etc, etc.  No. You can't dance away fear, you can’t laugh or cry it away either.  No, those things will not take away self-destructive, doomsday fears.  They are only as good against fear as aspirin is against the deadliest cancer.  That’s right. Fear like this in people’s lives is like a cancer. It eats a person away till he has no hope or life left. So many people try to escape reality by being entertained and trying to “enjoy” themselves. Self-help gurus, mystics and psychics cannot give any real or permanent deliverance either.

God.  He is the answer. The only One Who can ultimately deliver us from fear. I need Him. You need Him. Who is He, so I can meet Him and get help? Where is He? Why Is He letting all this happen to me? To the world for that matter? What can He do for me personally?  One thing is certain.  When all is said and done He, God, will remain. He will remain along with those who put their trust in Him.

So you don’t need to be afraid dear friend, ok?

First, let’s talk about Who He is and how to find Him (not that He’s lost; we are the ones who are lost.)

God is the Almighty Creator, Who created us all so that we can live with Him forever enjoying peace and prosperity and happiness.  Not fear. Fear entered the world because of sin. Guilt and fear are related. You see, man has a guilty conscience because we all sin. This is true whether one likes to admit it or not.

Now, God said in the Bible (His Word) that in the last days, men will get worse and worse, losing even any kind of feeling of pity for their fellow man.

Newspapers and TV and Magazines verify this fact don’t they? Murder upon murder upon fraud upon fraud and all types of cruelty toward others.  Any wonder if nations seek to wipe out nations.  Or if certain terrorist groups don’t care if they cast a shadow of death over everyday normal life of citizens of a country?

Who can stop them? Who can stop the neighborhood rapist/murderer?  The racist schemers? The police, the government?  Maybe they can stop some of them. But all these crimes are on the rise you see.

What about personal fears regarding certain things going on in your life right now? Health problems, money problems, people problems?  Don’t worry. God can handle that too.

Things are going haywire in this old world.  Way too much for man to handle his own problems.

And what about the hereafter? There is such a thing you know. Only the Devil preaches that it doesn’t exist. He is clever you see. If people believe his lie about there not being a Heaven or Hell, then he can work more efficiently in keeping people on the path to Hell.  Most people believe his lie rather than God’s truth. Therefore, the world is heading to Hell due to rebellion against God and unbelief regarding His Son Jesus Christ.

Fear of going to Hell is real too. Who can deliver me from a tragic and torturous hereafter? Jesus. The One Who gave His Life, so that I don’t end up in Hell if only I trust in Him Alone for my salvation.

God watches in grief and anger too at the foolishness of man who ignores His Word, the Bible and His commandments that are meant to help us.

Man ignores God and ends up in misery and fear.

God will rescue a society and the average person from morbid fears.  If only you cry out to Him my friend, He will change the quality of your life down here and forever.

Call Him.  Cry out to Jesus, believing that He cares for you and wants to deliver you. Because He really does.

“I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” - Psalms 34:4

What a beautiful scripture. It’ll come true for you, if you place all of your hope and trust in Jesus Christ, Who is far above all fear and condemnation.

In fact, His whole reason for coming down to earth was to deliver those in bondage to sin and death and fear.

So turn your eyes and heart from looking to man or man’s, “ingenious” plans for security (at national or personal level) and turn to the Living God for deliverance from all your sins and fear of the future (all types of fears for that matter) and get real deliverance and eternal security.

Listen.

Pray to the Lord. Ask Him to take away all these terrible fears. If you are truly His child (and that happens when you ask Him to be your Lord and Savior and begin to follow His commandments), then fear will have no more power over your life. Whenever fear comes lurking again, you know Who to turn to get a right perspective on things, once again.

Jesus says to you my friend, “Most assuredly I tell you, he who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has eternal life, and doesn't come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.” - John 5:24

And remember this, if you believe in Jesus:

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” - 2 Timothy 1:7
