What is the Truth?, Why is truth important?,What happens when a person seeks God without truth?,How can you stay in truth?

A man one day came home and told his wife and his children that he is dead. His wife pleaded with him to talk to a psychiatrist. With much debate he finally agreed. The psychiatrist tried to convince him by telling him the simple truth “You are not dead because you talk.” The man replied “Dead men do talk” after series of similar futile debates the psychiatrist asked him to meet a surgeon who is a friend of the psychiatrist. The man met the surgeon. The surgeon took a knife and scratched his palm and then told him “Now do you see that you are not dead because you bleed!” the man replied, “Well…. Hmm…Now I know that even dead men bleed”.

Here you can see the classic example of a man refusing to see the simple truth.

Why is truth important?

Let us see what the Bible says about Truth.

John 4: 23, 24
“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. “

Two things are clear to us now.|
1) We need to worship God in spirit and in truth.
2) God seeketh such to worship him.

What happens when a person seeks God without truth?

The carnal nature takes over and that person twists the word of God, which is the truth.

What does the Bible say about such people?

Romans 1: 18
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; “

We can see all over the Bible God cannot stand lies.

Revelation 21: 8
“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

May be you prophesy in His Name, cast out devils in His Name, and perform many miracles in His Name… Good. But it does not qualify you to stand before the God of Truth without Truth.

Matthew 7:22, 23
”Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

Remember God will not judge based on your Church doctrine or your upbringing nor based on what you have heard from your favorite preacher but based on the Truth of His Word (Bible).

How can you stay in truth?

Never take in anything even if it is your favorite preacher who is preaching. Test it based on the Word of God.

Many “Christian Gentlemen” quote the scriptures “Judge not, that ye be not judged” (Matt.7: 1).

If you continue to read Matt.7: 1 till 5 it is evident that it refers to hypocritical judgment.

Let me give you few examples of this

When you say “He is in poverty because of his father’s sins” or when you say “He is in sickness because of his fathers sins”

This is all about Judging in the human perspective.

If you read 1 John 4:1 it is given
”Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”

Most of the time we Christians just do the opposite of what the bible says. We never test every spirit but we are quick to judge through the human eyes.

Most of us when we start our Christian journey we start in truth but along the way we lose the truth as we have accepted someone twisting the truth and we said, “Hmm… looks like he has a point”.

Paul the apostle of Christ asks the Church of Galatians in Galatians 5:7

“Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?”

Ask yourself the above question and get back to the truth of his word so that you can say with confidence as it is said in 2 Timothy 4:7

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
