Some of us may not have anyone who really cares about us or someone whom we can truly call a friend. Others of us may have friends and relatives in this world who care about us but it is only too obvious that they are limited in their abililty to meet our needs. In fact, they cannot meet our deepest need. Their love for us also is nothing compared to the Love with which Jesus has loved us. First, He made us (John 1:3) and then for our sins, He shed His precious Blood on the cross though He was perfect in every way (John 3:16). Furthermore, since He is God the Son and is Almighty and was tested by temptations like us also, He is able to bear with us and help us all through our life and into Eternity (Hebrews 4:15,16). The Lord has wonderfully promised never to leave us or desert us (Hebrews 13:5). The Lord Jesus is a true friend we can depend on forever. We must remember however that Jesus says His true friends are those who do what He says (John 15:14). The Lord is a true Friend Who will never let us down. "When my father and my mother forsake me then the Lord will take me up" (Psalm 27:10). "I have loved thee with an everlasting love" (Jeremiah 31:3).
